Coaching stuff!

Anything general that hasn't got a place in the other forums should be posted in here...

I know people have been unable to sleep with excitement, anxiously waiting for their arrival.

Wait no longer. The Rules of Korfball (from 1st July 2010) are now available from the IKF site.

Get 'em while they're hot.

http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg21328501.600-zap-your-brain-into-the-zone-fast-track-to-pure-focus.html?page=2

This talks about coaching people to get to expert quicker. An expert normally has 10,000 hours of experience in the subject. At this point they have enough expereinece for them to act intuitively and can therefore finesse. They piece talks about gettign better results form gettign the participant to concentrate on something external to themt o develop faster (skiiers concentrate ahead rather than on legs, golfers concentrate on the club ratherthan the arm, swimmers on the flow of water rather than the arms and legs etc). Might be interestng to try and frame coaching catching and shootign n terms of the ball rather than the arms.

There is apparently a short cut whereby you attache a current across the particpiants brain - volunteers to have a car battery strapped to your head?

I only just saw this Andy. It's been done already (surprise surprise in Amsterdam!), but then in korfball's smaller brother:
